Kanahus Pellkey of the Native Youth Movement

Dec 17: Native Youth Movement

Tonight we syndicate an interview conducted by Healing the Earth. It is with Kanahus Pellkey, who will be coming to Kingston on a Native Youth Movement speaking tour on January 28th, time and location TBA.

“Kanahus Pellkey is a Secwepemc and Ktnuxa warrior who is a spokesperson for the Secwepemc chapter of the Native Youth Movement. The NYM describes themselves as “a Warrior Society for Indigenous Peoples & Native Youth! Our role is to Defend our Peoples and Territories! NYM uses Education, Agitation, and Direct Action to achieve our goals. Our objective is Freedom!”

One of the main issues the NYM has been mobilizing around has been the 2010 Olympics, which has inspired politicians and earth-destroyers to initiate an intense campaign of destruction and displacement. This has seen the further gentrification of the city of Vancouver and the surrounding area, and the destruction of wild areas, habitat for so many beings, in order to make new highways and ski hills… and so much more. There is a growing movement against the 2010 Olympics. Spread the Word!

Also in this interview Kanahus talks about colonialism in Canada, the legacy of genocide that continues today, government anti-terror squad harassment, and how the forces are conspiring for change…. A very powerful interview.”

This week, special guest co-host and good friend of Thought Crime, Kibby, spoke a little bit about the No Borders Camp that was set up north of Montreal at the Laval Detention Centre on November 10th, 2007.

The camp was set up in solidarity with the No Borders Camps going on in Calexico (California and Mexico) between the 5-th and 11th of November.

Interviews that Kibby did from the Camp in Laval were played and also clips from McGill’s CKUT coverage of the event as well.

An 8-minute long Spanish clip was also played from Radio Zapatista regarding the US/Mexican camps.

introducing ROAD Kingston

•November 25, 2007 • Leave a Comment

calling all Kingston area anarchists, anti-authoritarians and fellow
travelers…

A new website (http://kingston.roadnetwork.org) focusing on anarchist
and anti-authoritarian relevant groups, campaigns, projects,
institutions, and media in the Kingston area has been created. There are
also regional links. If we haven’t included something that ought to be
on that site (i.e. are in harmony with the points of unity), please send
an email to kingston (at) roadnetwork (dot) org

This is an initiative of the Revolutionary Ontario Anarchist Development
(ROAD) Network collective in Kingston. The points of unity of the ROAD
Network are posted at the end of this email. The purpose of ROAD
Kingston is to help facilitate anarchist communications and networking
through the website and coordinating encounters between anarchists in
the area. More on this in the future.

Check out the page and feel free to register as a subscriber and/or
contributor. Once approved, you can add content to the blog as well.
